2023 Hugo Awards Nominate Avatar 2, Supergirl: World of Tomorrow, Nope, and More
The 2023 Hugo Award nominations have been announced by the World Science Fiction Society and several fan-favorites from comics and on the big screen have walked away with some nods. In the Best Graphic Story or Comic category, DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Matheus Lopes earned a nomination, sitting alongside Saga, Vol. 10, by Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples and Monstress vol. 7: Devourer, by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda. Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams from Dark Horse and DUNE: The Official Movie Graphic Novel from Legendary Comics round out the category.
On the feature film side, Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Jordan Peele’s Nope, Pixar’s Turning Red, and the Apple TV+ series Severance (Season 1) were nominated in the Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form category. On the flipside, Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form nomianted two episodes of Star Wars: Andor, “One Way Out” and “Rix Road,” plus The Expanse: “Babylon’s Ashes;” For All Mankind: “Stranger in a Strange Land;” She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: “Whose Show is This?;” and Stranger Things: “Chapter Four: Dear Billy.”
The 2023 Hugo Awards, the Lodestar Award, and the Astounding Award will be presented on Saturday evening, October 21, 2023, at a formal ceremony at the Chengdu Worldcon. You can find the full list of nominees below.
