Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga! While the animation studio remains silent on any updates regarding the second installment of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy, the first part is all set for its global streaming date. Following the July premiere in Japanese theatres, the film made its international debut in September of the same year and eventually became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time. The Infinity Castle is the second final arc of the manga, which focuses on the battles against the Upper Moons. Since all the Demon Slayers are trapped inside the endless labyrinth, all they can do is fight the demons while also searching for Muzan Kibutsuji.
The arc features several intense battles and spotlights almost all of the main characters. As the protagonist of the story, Tanjiro couldn’t be left behind in the action. He teamed up with Giyu in the first film to fight against Akaza. It was their most difficult battle so far, and they barely managed to survive. However, while the second part of the film has many exciting battles and moments planned for fans, it wouldn’t include Tanjiro.
Tanjiro Won’t Have a Fight in Upcoming Demon Slayer Films

Tanjiro will be absent for a major part of the Infinity Castle Arc, so he might not show up at all in the second film. His fight against Akaza was built up since the Mugen Train Arc when the demon killed Kyojuro Rengoku. Devastated by the loss and the frustration he felt when Akaza mocked Rengoku, Tanjiro confronted the villain and pointed out his weakness. It was a huge blow to Akaza’s pride, and the two of them have been enemies since then. The battle between the two was also a clash of ideologies since they both had opposing opinions on what strength truly means.
Tanjiro had grown much more powerful since he first met Akaza, but even that wasn’t enough to defeat the villain. Even with Giyu awakening his Demon Slayer Mark during the battle, the duo wouldn’t have been able to survive if Akaza didn’t regain his memories as a human. After remembering his past, he decided to self-destruct so he could finally be at peace. The battle was intense, and both Giyu and Tanjiro suffered grave injuries. The film ended after they passed out, and both their Kasugai Crows were incredibly worried for them.
Tanjiro will have a crucial role in the film’s third installment when Muzan shows up at the scene. With the defeat of the Upper Moons, the Demon Slayers had to make sure Muzan stayed under the sun at the break of dawn. Tanjiro will again be forced into the center of action as he does everything he can to defeat the villain.
