Even decades after its establishment, Studio Ghibli has remained the most iconic animation studio when it comes to anime films. Every film produced under its banner is loved for its striking visuals, rich storytelling, and deep emotional impact. The studio’s trademark is hand-drawn animation with incredible attention to detail, including lush scenery, fluid movement, and character depth. While the studio doesn’t have major releases for this year, the Ghibli Park in Aichi Prefecture, which opened in 2022, keeps surprising fans with exciting projects. Legendary Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki returned in March this year with newly drawn illustrations of some of his most famous works for a Panorama Box.

This was Miyazaki’s first project after The Boy and the Heron. The box uses a layering technique and creates an illusion of three-dimensional depth in the scenes drawn by him, and started being displayed at the Ghibli Grand Warehouse starting July 8th, 2026. Following the exciting new work from the director, the studio revealed a new look at its collaborative campaign with TOHO Cinemas. Now that July is finally here, the studio also revealed a short anime film to promote the park. Mantan Web shared more details on the film after its preview.

Following the preview, which was shared on July 7th, 2026, one day before the official screening, Mantan Web confirmed that Jesse of SixTONES is behind the voice of the main character, Shinjin. This is his first time voicing a character in a Studio Ghibli production, which immediately grabbed viewers’ attention.

Additionally, singer-songwriter Aina the End will be voicing Shinjin-kun’s senior, Kikue. Aina the End is one of the most renowned Japanese singers known for performing the opening and ending themes in several major anime such as One Piece, The Apothecary Diaries, Dandadan, and more.

This is Ghibli’s first major project after The Boy and the Heron, which was released in 2023. The short film titled Majyo no Tani no Yoru, which translates to Night in the Valley of Witches, was displayed at the Orion Theater in the park’s Ghibli Grand Warehouse starting July 8. This 14-minute-long film is directed by two renowned animators of the studio, Goro Miyazaki and Akihiko Yamashita.

Following the film’s announcement, the official website of Ghibli Park shared further details on the film, along with the first look featuring the main characters. The story takes place in the Ghibli Park’s Valley of Witches, centering around a new employee at the park who gets entangled in mysterious events, where ordinary requests such as repairing buildings and fireplaces turn into a major disaster by some unseen force.

The film showcases real buildings from the park, including the Guchoki Bakery, Howl’s Castle, Hatter’s Hat Shop, The Witch’s House, and more. The promotional film will be shown in the theatre, accompanied by a stage greeting where Goro Miyazaki and Akihiko Yamashita will be present. The theater hall has a 150-person capacity, and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
