The Wyatt Sicks have taken the WWE Universe by storm since their now infamous debut in August of 2024, and not only have they taken over Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, but their presence has now extended to WWE 2K25 in the form of a brand new quest line in 2K25’s The Island. That would be grand on its own, but 2K has gone the extra mile and included never-before-seen footage from the beloved late superstar Bray Wyatt as part of that quest, creating something truly special for fans.

ComicBook had the chance to get all the details on that unreleased footage and how it originally came to be, courtesy of Associate Lead Narrative Designer Andrea Listenberger, and it was paramount for the team at 2K to honor the work and legacy of Bray Wyatt, as well as what the Wyatt Sicks have created since bringing part of that vision back to WWE.

“The words do it justice are very generic, but for me and for our team, that means capturing the voice of both Bray and the Wyatt Sicks, but also bringing something to the world that both he and the members of the Wyatt Sicks have created, but in a way that only our video game can do,” Listenberger said.

A Tailor-Made Experience

While the team took all sorts of cues from what the Wyatt Sicks have been doing on WWE TV, that wasn’t the only guiding light, and the team wanted to create elements in WWE 2K25 that feel special to the realm of video games. “They’ve done such a beautiful job on WWE TV that I think it was important for us to not just duplicate that, but to add something to it without changing it, and that was a big question going into the storyline. Like, what was something that we could do in our video game that only we had access to do? And that was kind of the generation for this idea,” Listenberger said.

It was actually a memorable promo from Uncle Howdy that got some of the gears moving on the initial idea. “There was something in one of the original Bo Dallas Uncle Howdy promos that really stood with me. There was that line, ‘What do you want me to do? Let his memory become a mausoleum?’ And as we were working on the island and I was literally play testing, walking around these larger-than-life structures that were dedicated to WWE Superstars, that when there was no other people walking around the world but my little avatar, it felt a little bit like that,” Listenberger said.

Fans of Wyatt’s work during his time in WWE will find plenty of homages and tributes to some of his iconic moments throughout the quest, and while it won’t feature everything, there was clearly a lot pulled from those hallmark moments.

“I think that probably the Wyatt Six quest itself has the most in line with, in terms of Bray Wyatt’s legacy, I watched a lot of the Firefly Fun House match with John Cena, in addition to obviously the Bo Dallas Uncle Howdy vignettes when they were launching the Wyatt Sicks or, you know, building them up,” Listenberger said. “And obviously it’s not a one-to-one. Like, we don’t have John Cena in the matches. We don’t, you know, have anyone coming out in nWo attire, but if you play through the quest, you’ll notice some similarities in some of the themes in what we do and things like that. So there’s definitely inspiration drawn from there.”

Never Before Seen Footage (And Where It Came From)

Those who make their way through the quest will be able to track down and unlock never-before-seen footage from Wyatt, and Listenberger revealed that the footage has had quite the journey from when it was originally filmed to finally being released with 2K25.

“So the media that we use for the Wyatt Sicks quest was originally recorded; the Bray Wyatt media, I should say, was originally recorded for some storylines that were going to be a part of 2K22. So long past, there were storylines that were going to be a part of the women’s division storyline, other storylines that were going to be a part of the men’s division storyline, and fully voiced cutscenes, fully in production,” Listenberger said.

“I actually remember exactly where I was when we found out that Bray Wyatt was released from WWE, and all of that was not going to be a part of our game. We actually tried to bring back some of those cutscenes in 2K24. Bray Wyatt was back with the company. We had plans to record a little bit of additional voiceover from him to go with the cutscenes that were mostly already done to make it make sense with the current era of Bray Wyatt,” Listenberger said.

“And then the timing of his unfortunate passing made that impossible. It didn’t feel right, what we were going to do to incorporate it in the way that we are planning to do so,” Listenberger said. “So that was where the footage originally came from. The way that we use it in the Wyatt Sicks quest is a little different, is how I’ll put it without spoiling too much, but we saw an opportunity to repurpose it, reuse it, and, you know, bring it to light for our fans in a slightly different way. There’s been rumors about it being out there for a good long while, and this seemed like a perfect avenue to show it in a way that was kind of a real tribute to him, the Wyatt Sicks, and to fans as well, to be honest.”

Fans can experience the Wyatt Sicks quest right now in WWE 2K25, which will allow you to not only unlock the previously unseen footage but also new customization options, including ones themed after Alexa Bliss’ Lilly doll, for your custom superstars in other modes. You’ll also find fittingl cryptic messages from Uncle howdy as you progress, and that’s on top of a few fun surprises along the way.

WWE 2K25 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
