There are certain legendary figures in wrestling that instantly command the spotlight whenever they make an appearance, and amongst that elite group is certainly The Undertaker. The Undertaker retired from in-ring competition a few years ago, so when he does show up on WWE television, it’s always a big deal, even when fans know ahead of time. That wasn’t the case tonight though, as Undertaker surprised everyone when he showed up to WWE’s ESPN debut Wrestlepalooza, and even more surprising was the reason why.
After AJ Lee made Becky Lynch tap for her first WWE win in 10 years, the famous gong rang out and the arena went dark, and when the lights came up, The Undertaker had arrived. After riding down to ringside, Undertaker revealed why he was there, and it was to deliver a surprise announcement to Stephanie McMahon that she was the first inductee in the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class.
A True Surprise
When Undertaker drove up to the ring, he stopped when he saw Stephanie McMahon in the crowd. Stephanie waved and they laughed as he got off his motorcycle, but then he surprised everyone by going over the barricade and sitting next to McMahon.
Undertaker made small talk for a minute and then got the crowd hyped for some sort of reveal. That reveal was that McMahon is the first announced inductee into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame, and McMahon was clearly fighting back some tears as the announcement set in. They hugged and the crowd celebrated the announcement, and now the wait begins to see who will end up joining Stephanie in the next Hall of Fame class.
Last year’s class also included a surprise announcement, which was for Triple H. The 2025 class included Triple H, Lex Luger, Michelle McCool, and The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon), as well as legacy inductees Kamala, Dory Funk Sr., and Ivan Koloff. There was also the Hall of Fame Immortal Moment of Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.
The Hall of Fame is typically part of WrestleMania weekend, and that will likely be the case again at WrestleMania 42. WrestleMania is actually going to take place in Las Vegas in back-to-back years, and as is now the standard, will also be a two-night event. That won’t be the case next time though, as WWE recently announced that WrestleMania 43 will be taking place in Saudi Arabia, which will mark the first time WrestleMania has taken place outside of North America.
