Two new PS5 exclusive games have release dates. One of these games is arriving on the PlayStation Store in October, while the other is coming in November. The games aren’t PlayStation Studios’ releases, nor are they as noteworthy as this year’s big PS5 exclusives games — Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei — but they will pad out the remainder of the year for PlayStation nonetheless.
Both of these new PS5 games are not proper exclusives, but console exclusives. The former refers to a game only available on PS5, which is few and far between these days. The latter, meanwhile, refers to a game that is available on both PS5 and PC. This is the bulk of PS5 exclusvity these days. In fact, even many PlayStation-made PS5 games come to PC now. Most do, actually.
Dispatch
Dispatch is a superhero comedy adventure game where your choices matter. In it, you manage a team of misfit heroes, and your job is to dispatch them as you see fit around Los Angeles for emergencies. In the middle of this, you will need to balance office politics, personal relationships, and embrace your own hero destiny.
The game is being made by AdHoc Studio, led by the writers and directors of The Wolf Among Us and Tales From the Borderlands. The studio also wrote the upcoming Wolf Among Us 2. In other words, there is some serious adventure game and writing chops working on this new PS5 game, which is set to release on October 22, or at least the first two episodes will. The rest of the game will be released over the course of the next three weeks, with two episodes releasing each week. In total, there will be eight episodes, with the final two releasing on November 12.
POOLS
Pools is coming to PS5 and PlayStation VR2 on November 25, after launching on PC last year. Made by Tensori, Pools is an eerie walking simulator that is apparently quite good. To this end, it has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, the highest rating a Steam game can earn. This is thanks to a 95% approval rating.
As you can see in the trailer above, Pools is a minimalistic walking simulator with not much in terms of gameplay; rather, it is about exploration and atmosphere.
How much either of these games will resonate with the PS5 community remains to be seen. As noted, the latter has certainly resonated on Steam, while the former is one of the more anticipated indie releases remaining this year. As for whether either game will support the PS5 Pro, we don’t currently know. Considering how many September games don’t, we wouldn’t hold any breath.
All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think or join the ComicBook Forum and the discussions over there. What PS5 games releasing before the end of the year are you most excited for?
