Tom Holland has reportedly been rushed to the hospital following a Spider-Man: Brand New Day stunt. After four years since his last appearance, Tom Holland returned to the Spider-Man suit for his seventh live-action outing and fourth solo movie with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film is one of the most anticipated Marvel projects on the horizon and will serve as a bit of a prelude to Avengers: Doomsday. It’s unclear if the films will directly connect, since Doomsday was once set to release before Brand New Day, but it will at the very least be a nice appetizer for the next big MCU phase-concluder.
Unfortunately, Tom Holland’s enthusiastic return to Spider-Man has been put on pause. According to The Sun, Tom Holland and a female stunt double were rushed to the hospital on Friday, September 19th. Holland reportedly fell and cracked his head, prompting him to be treated for a concussion. Deadline corroborated the incident and described Holland’s conclusionas “mild”. The actor’s father, Dominic Holland, told guests at a charity dinner that Tom would be away from filming for a while, but the actor was seen at the event with his fiancé Zendaya and took pictures. It was reported that he left the dinner early as he was feeling ill.
Will Tom Holland’s Injury Impact Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

The Sun notes that Holland’s fall could lead to investigation from the Health and Safety Executive, but Deadline reported that a source close to the production said that Holland is expected to return to continue filming in a matter of days. The production is taking a break “out of precaution”.
It seems unlikely that this will impact the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day if that’s the extent of it. If necessary, it’s possible the crew could shoot second unit photography without Holland or utilize a stunt double while he’s absent, but as noted, it sounds like that won’t be needed. Post-production work can also still continue on Spider-Man: Brand New Day during any kind of downtime, allowing the team to work on editing the film together and potentially figure out ways to improve the script.
Tom Cruise famously broke his ankle during the production of Mission: Impossible – Fallout which halted filming for weeks, but the team edited the film/did rewrites on the script during the downtime. The film still managed to hit its planned release date, though partially because Cruise returned to set before he was fully healed.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently slated to release on July 31st, 2026. Leave a comment below and join the conversation now in the ComicBook Forum!
