Stephen Strange was an extremely arrogant doctor when he lost use of his hands after an accident, so it is no surprise that he remains very egotistical since becoming Doctor Strange. The fact that Strange became the Sorcerer Supreme makes it even worse since he did some bad things in the name of magic, while serving in the role where he was supposed to be using it for good and protecting the world from dark magic users. However, since Doctor Strange feels he is always right and knows what is best, he has used his magic often selfishly and irresponsibly, all while rationalizing it in his mind.

From the times that Doctor Strange did something very bad to poor decisions made in the guise of good, here are the worst things Doctor Strange did in the name of magic.

5) He Manipulated Magical Children in Strange Academy

Doctor Strange has proven to be one of the worst mentors in Marvel Comics, thanks to his actions in Strange Academy, a school he created with ulterior motives. Strange took in children with magical powers and provided them with a place to learn how to harness their abilities, while also continuing their education.

However, he had dark secrets he was hiding from the kids, and his primary goal was to ensure that none of them reached their full potential. This caused Emily Bright to turn evil because she knew Strange was hiding things from everyone. He also put Doyle Dormammu in danger because of the secrets. These kids almost died because Strange manipulated their magic, and he never seemed to care.

4) Erased Captain America’s Memories of The Illuminati

The Illuminati did a lot of bad things, and Doctor Strange had a hand in all of them. However, most of these moments were him agreeing to things, such as when they sent Hulk to Sakaar or when they threatened the Skrulls and inadvertently caused the Secret Invasion. However, when the Incursions were coming and Captain America used the Infinity Gauntlet to destroy an entire Earth to save Earth-616, he said they couldn’t do it to any more Earths.

Tony Stark ordered Strange to do it, and the Sorcerer Supreme wiped Cap’s memory of the Illuminati, Incursions, and their actions. He did something that Professor X has done to many people, using his Marvel Comics powers for immoral and selfish purposes, and it almost destroyed the world.

3) Doctor Strange Turned His Brother Into a Vampire

Before he became a sorcerer, Stephen Strange was a physician, but his mother died before the end of his initial residency. Strange became more impersonal as a result and morphed into an egotistical doctor who cared more about his reputation than his patients. When his father became ill, he refused to see him because he still felt the sting of his mom’s death, and he never saw his father before he died.

His brother lambasted him for it, but Strange didn’t care, and when his brother left his home, he was struck by a car. Victor died, but Strange put his body in cold storage with the hope that he could revive him in the future. When he gained his mystical training, he used spells from a book to resurrect his brother, but he didn’t realize he was bringing him back as a vampire. This was a terrible thing, and Victor lived off the blood of criminals, but soon took his own life to end his pain.

2) Doctor Strange Will Place Demons In Killers’ Minds

One of the jobs of the Sorcerer Supreme of a dimension is to stop all paranormal threats from entering their world. Doctor Strange has four options when he captures a demon after it makes its way into his world. His first option is to return it to its own home dimension. His second option is to destroy it. However, if neither of those is possible, he only has two options, and only one is morally responsible.

The first is to bind it in a force field or encase it in a container. There are lots of things in the Sanctum Santorium and locked rooms with these demons in them. However, there is one last option, and it is a terrible one. If a demon can only be sealed in a living vessel, Doctor Strange has placed these demons in the minds of murderers with life sentences. These are terrible people, but this is also a terrible punishment that no one deserves, regardless of their crimes.

1) He Taught Doctor Doom Magic

The worst thing that Doctor Strange ever did in the name of magic was teach Doctor Doom more about the mystic arts, which has led to disastrous situations. When Strange did this, he had good intentions. He owed Doom and had no choice, and he agreed to help the villain rescue his mother from Mephisto’s grasp.

He taught Doom all about the mystic arts, and they succeeded in rescuing Doom’s mother’s soul. Since then, Doom has used the magic to almost kill Reed Richards and to murder The Thing. He used it to help rule over Battleworld in Secret Wars. Finally, he became the new Sorcerer Supreme of Earth and used his power to conquer the world in One World Under Doom. This was all Doctor Strange’s fault.
