The video game releases are starting to come thick and fast, as they do every September. The month isn’t even half over, and PC gamers have been treated to the likes of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hell Is Us, Cronos: The New Dawn, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, NBA 2K26, NHL 26, LEGO Voyagers, and Borderlands 4. If you somehow have some free time between all of these releases, or if you are short on cash because of all the recent releases, then this new free Steam game may be of interest.
The new PC game is called Puzzle Chambers, and normally, it is locked behind a purchase. For the next 24 hours, though, until September 19, the adventure puzzle game is completely free to download and keep. This is the first time the game has been made free since its release in 2017.
Another Free Steam Game
If this new free Steam game doesn’t tickle your fancy, the good news is it’s not the only new free Steam game. Recently, an N64-inspired game was released and is permanently free. Unfortunately, neither is Steam Deck Verified, but one of the aforementioned new Steam games — one of the year’s biggest horror games — is, for those who need something new to play on Steam Deck.
About the Game
Those who are curious about this new free Steam game, it is an 8-year-old release from developer Entertainment Forge and publisher GrabTheGames. The elevator pitch: what would you do upon waking in a new, mysterious place with supernatural abilities and a suspicion that your new hosts might not be human?
According to Steam user reviews, Puzzle Chamber is decent, or at least its 74% approval rating suggests as much. You may think that being free is going to, and has already, inflated this percentage, but it hasn’t. In fact, most of the negative reviews are from users who have downloaded the game since it became free. If anything, the game’s Steam user reviews have been artificially lowered by becoming free, because more people are checking it out without a strong interest. At the same time, though, the PC game is not a revelation, so don’t go into it expecting it to be.
All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation on the ComicBook Forum. What PC games have you been playing on Steam this month?
