Gearbox is adding back a removed feature from Borderlands 4 following outcry from fans. The new installment in the madcap post-apocalyptic looter-shooter series is finally out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. And it has been earning positive reviews, at least with critics. With fans, it has proven a bit more divisive, as evidenced by its “Mixed” rating on Steam and more. As you would expect, there are a variety of complaints, including about features found in previous games, but that are missing in Borderlands 4. Gearbox is listening to this feedback, though, and already making changes.
Over on the social media platform X, the official Borderlands account has revealed that, following fan feedback, Gearbox is “exploring how” to add FOV (field of view) sliders to console. That said, right now, Gearbox doesn’t have any details on when this feature will be added. To this end, it doesn’t even promise it for the next update, so it could be a little while before there is any solution to this problem.
“We Have Heard Your Feedback”
“Vault Hunters! We have heard your feedback on FOV (Field of View) sliders on console,” reads the post on X. “The team is currently exploring how to bring these sliders to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. We will continue to read your feedback & prioritize game updates with your experience in mind. Thanks all!”
One of the reasons Borderlands fans are not happy about the lack of FOV sliders is that previous games, including Borderlands 3, had this option on console. Gearbox has not said why Borderlands 4 doesn’t, nor did it communicate any of this ahead of time, so it came as a rotten surprise to some early adopters of the game on console.
Gearbox has its work cut out over the next few months, getting Borderlands 4 to the place where fans want it. It is not just missing features fans have come to expect — like a traditional mini map — but it has some optimization issues as well. Thankfully, all of this can be addressed and will be addressed in time. In the meantime, those who haven’t purchased Borderlands 4 yet may want to hold off until some of these updates roll out. To this end, it will almost certainly be discounted during the holiday season.
All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over at the ComicBook Forum. Are you enjoying Borderlands 4?
