The popular Weekly Shonen Jump magazine by Shueisha is known for several acclaimed classics such as One Piece and Dragon Ball. As the best-selling manga magazine of all time, WSJ often returns with series for fans each year. Since the magazine has limited space for ongoing series, several underperforming manga end up getting axed before they get a chance. The early reception plays a crucial role in deciding a series’ future, and it’s safe to say that Kinato’s Magic is going to stay for a while. This is especially the case after getting a recommendation from Sakamoto Days‘ creator, Yuto Suzuki. Following the cancellation of Shadow Eliminators in 2024, Kento Amemiya returned this year with a brand new Shonen Jump series. Before working independently as a manga creator, Amemiya used to be Suzuki’s assistant, which is all the more reason the latter is supporting the latest fantasy manga.
Kinato’s Magic released its first volume on June 4th, 2026. @WSJ_manga, a reliable source of information regarding all Shonen Jump series, confirmed that the first volume’s cover includes a recommendation note from Suzuki. Sakamoto Days‘ creator praised the series for being enjoyable thanks to the lively characters. He also said the story soothes the soul. The release date for the first volume is only for the Japanese version, and the English release date will take at least a few months, or even longer
What Is Kinato’s Magic About?

Kinato’s Magic is the second serialized manga by the creator. Ahead of the cancellation of Shadow Eliminators, Amemiya also worked on several one-shots. His latest story didn’t become a massive hit right after its debut, but it’s slowly gaining more traction. The first volume’s sales will reveal whether Shueisha decides the series is worth continuing.
The story is set in a world where mana, a mysterious energy, exists among all things in the world. However, only a select few are able to control that energy. They are known as mages and can be extremely powerful depending on how much mana they have and how they control that power. Kinato is a young mage who took over his family business and is now running the town’s seitai clinic. His main job is to help his clients realign their bodies and energies. However, the boy yearns for adventure and wants to travel all over the world.
Unfortunately, his power is limited to setai realigning, which isn’t deemed fit for a dangerous journey. Only Mages who are exceptionally powerful at combat magic go on such dangerous adventures and fight powerful monsters. After a chance encounter, his life takes a drastic turn as Kinato must decide if he wants to embark on an adventure with the limited power he has. The manga releases weekly chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump, which is available to read every Sunday on the official Manga Plus app and Viz Media’s official website.
