As fans await the anime’s return, The Apothecary Diaries continues one of its most beloved projects. The monthly project titled The Four Seasons With Maomao and Jinshi commenced in July 2024 and shared several gorgeous visuals of the beloved characters each month. Every visual depicted plants that grew during its respective month. On the 2nd of each month, the visuals were shared by the official X handle and the website of the anime. The project focused on the daily lives of the characters within the palace, including Jinshi, Xiaolan, Shisui (Loulan), Lihua, Gyokoyou, and her daughter Lingli. The first part of the project ended in June last year, shortly before the Season 2 finale. Luckily, the anime didn’t make fans wait for long before beginning a second part of the project in the very next month.

The second part aims to appreciate some of the most underrated characters in the series, including the Three Princesses of the Verdigris House, Lakan, and Lahan, and those from the palace. For the May visual, the series spotlights Jinshi and Gaoshun, the most trusted ally of the Moon Prince, who has been by his side for several years. Both characters are strolling across the Palace in the rain while Goshun keeps an umbrella over Jinshi’s head. They stumble across the purple blooming flowers of sweet flag plants. Another noticeable detail was Jinshi’s change in attire since the robe he is wearing is more befitting of someone of his status. After pretending to be an eunuch, Jinshi has now accepted his position as the Moon Prince and Imperial Brother.

While the anime has yet to reveal an official trailer for Season 3, the announcement teaser confirms the story will take place in the Northern farming villages. Jinshi will seek Maomao’s help to solve the mystery behind the strange incidents. The upcoming Season 3 will be released in two cours and the first cour is expected to adapt the fifth volume of the light novel. It will premiere in October this year as part of the Fall 2026 anime lineup. On the other hand, the second cour will be released in Spring 2027 and adapt the sixth volume of the novel.

Following the Shi Clan’s rebellion, Jinshi will no longer pretend to be an eunuch and work at the Rear Palace. He now continues to actively fulfill his role as the Moon Prince and handle the aftermath of the Shi Clan’s ruin. However, the one thing that hasn’t changed is that he will continue to rely on Maomao’s intellect since she is the only one knowledgeable enough to help him out of a bind. Even after she left the Rear Palace, he continues to visit her despite his busy schedule.

Additionally, the anime will also release its first feature film, following a completely original story by Natsu Hyuuga. The film is set to hit the Japanese theaters in December 2026 and awaits a global release date, which might be announced next year after its Japanese premiere.
