After running for nine years, the beloved anime adaptation of My Hero Academia reached its conclusion in December 2025. Kohei Horikoshi’s hit Weekly Shonen Jump manga etched its name into history as one of the best-selling series of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation across the globe. The manga reached its conclusion in 2024, and it took the anime series a little more than a year after the manga finale to wrap up the story following the aftermath of the Final War. As the story enters its final phase, the heroes carry the scars caused by the villains and rebuild the country after the large-scale destruction. However, even though the main story has long ended, the beloved franchise keeps returning with new projects, whether it’s spin-offs or even video games.
Amid all the new announcements, What’s on Netflix confirmed that the streaming giant is finally bringing Season 6 to its library on June 1st, 2026. Despite the anime’s success, the platform is lagging in content as it didn’t have Season 6 until now, even though Season 7 is already streaming. While Season 8 also awaits a streaming date, the platform will be streaming the fan-favorite film, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, on June 1st as well. The anime released four films over the years, and they often get added or removed from the U.S. library due to licensing issues. World Heroes’ Mission was originally released in 2021, while Season 6 premiered in October 2022, more than three years ago.
What’s Next For The My Hero Academia Franchise?

While the anime originally concluded in December last year, the true finale was released this month in a special episode titled My Hero Academia: More. It adapts Chapter 431, an extra chapter of the manga, released exclusively in the final Volume 42 of the manga. The episode wraps up the incredible story with a new chapter following Class 1-A students, U.A.’s Big Three, and the pro heroes after an eight-year time skip. The story centers primarily on Ochako Uraraka and features a get-together of Japan’s best pros while revealing their hero rankings.
Additionally, the anime is commemorating its 10th anniversary and has a lot of exciting surprises for fans. The new episode was also a part of the celebration, and there’s more to come along the way. The anime even launched a new website specifically for sharing all kinds of updates on the anniversary projects.
The series will also return with a new anime short, titled “I am a hero too,” focusing on Eri and her life after the final war. She dreamed of becoming a singer after being inspired by the performance of Class 1-A during the school festival. So far, the anime has yet to confirm a release date or reveal a trailer. Not only that, but there will be concerts, new merch releases, and several exciting projects for the rest of the year.
