As May kicks in, Netflix is bringing all kinds of underrated and famous anime for fans. The Spring 2026 anime season is currently ongoing, and April was an exciting month for fans with the release of several incredible shows. Each season, there are dozens of new anime being released on Crunchyroll, while Netflix often takes a while to license them and bring them to its library. This also depends on the regions with more series coming to select regions in Asia compared to the West. While the popular sequels such as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 were streaming weekly episodes in Asia, fans in the U.S. could only watch them on Crunchyroll. Additionally, according to the latest weekly update by the official X handle of Netflix Anime confirmed that Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube started streaming on May 10th, 2026, only in select regions.
However, while the handle didn’t share the details on the regions, it is currently unavailable in the U.S. However, since Netflix is licensing it in other regions, we can expect it to be added to the U.S. library soon. For now, however, both parts of the first season are streaming on Crunchyroll. Part 2 of Season 1 concluded in March this year, and the anime has yet to announce a second season. The reboot still has a lot of story left to adapt, but considering the underwhelming reception towards the first season, it’s unclear when the anime will release a sequel.
What Is Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube About?

The anime is based on the classic Weekly Shonen Jump manga written by Shou Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano. The manga reached its conclusion in 1999, and 15 years after the original story ended, the magazine released a sequel, Hell Teacher Nube Neo. It also released its third part, titled Hell Teacher Nube S, in 2018, which is why the manga was never fully adapted into an anime. The original anime aired only 46 episodes, while the manga covers the main story in 279 chapters. The reboot was released in 2025 and aired the second part of Season 1 in 2026. The story is still loved by avid manga readers for blending supernatural action, quirky characters, emotional moments, and intriguing references to Japanese folklore.
The story follows Kyouzou Nube, an unconventional teacher at Doumoro Elementary School. Although he appears to be an ordinary teacher, he possesses a powerful, supernatural hand that contains immense powers. A mysterious force cursed Nube’s hand, which now allows him to exorcise, control, and even interact with spirits.
He uses his hand in battles against supernatural beings, including vengeful spirits and demons. Those monsters often threaten the safety of his students, and it’s up to their Sensei to protect them. While protecting the students, he also teaches them valuable life lessons, encouraging them to face their fears and inner demons. The series is largely episodic, with each chapter or arc focusing on a new threat that Nube protects his students from.
