Peacock’s horror lineup is about to get a little less scary. The NBCUniversal streamer has spent the past few weeks adding chilling titles to its content catalogs. After adding everything from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds and Psycho to several Halloween movies and more, one of the best horror movies of all time is disappearing from Peacock at the peak of Halloween season.
Despite only joining the NBCUniversal streamer on September 1st, M. Night Shyamalan’s seminal movie The Sixth Sense is included in the streamer’s “leaving soon” section, meaning it will leave Peacock at the end of the month. The movie, starring Bruce Willis as a child psychologist treating a young boy who inexplicably starts seeing dead people, is one of the most iconic films in Shyamalan’s career and one of the best horror films to ever hit the big screen, making its upcoming departure from Peacock a major loss.
Why You Should Watch The Sixth Sense
It’s not a stretch to say that The Sixth Sense is not just one of the best horror movies but simply one of the best movies ever. The film is absolutely fantastic from start to finish, and while Shyamalan has gone on to release numerous hits since, it remains a highlight in the filmmaker’s career. A masterclass in storytelling built on a backbone of a gripping psychological thriller and heightened suspense, The Sixth Sense explores a powerful and inspiring story about human connection, trauma, and grief through career-defining performances for both Willis and Osment.
We also can’t talk about The Sixth Sense without mentioning that it has one of the best movie twists that reframes the entire film and has a haunting impact on viewers long after the screen fades to black. The Sixth Sense is a movie that everyone should rewatch at least once, but with such a well-crafted and emotionally impactful story, something tells us you’ll be pressing play a second and maybe even third time.
Where to Stream The Sixth Sense After It Leaves Peacock
The Sixth Sense is disappearing from Peacock at the end of the month alongside a list of other films in the “Leaving Soon” section like Last Night in Soho and Reservoir Dogs, but it isn’t leaving streaming altogether. As it exits Peacock’s streaming library, The Sixth Sense will begin streaming on HBO Max on October 1st.
The movie is one of several horror and horror-adjacent films that will start streaming on HBO Max at the start of the month, making the streamer a go-to destination for all things spooky this Halloween season. Beetlejuice, Christine, Edward Scissorhands, Friday the 13th (2009), Hereditary, Poltergeist (1982), and The Shining, as well as several Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Insidious movies, are all set to stream on HBO Max next month.
