A 2019 Nintendo Switch game, which was a Nintendo Switch exclusive at launch and for the first year of its existence, is returning six years later with a Nintendo Switch 2 version, complete with new content. And all of this is set to happen soon on September 25. Meanwhile, like the original was at its launch, this new “Deluxe Edition” of the 6-year-old game is set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, at least at release.

The game in question is The Touryst from developer Shin’en Multimedia, the latter of which has already released a game for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the form of Fast Fusion, which hit the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop back in June. The studio has put out a couple of other games as well, but it remains best known for The Touryst, hence why it is getting a re-release, and its other games are not.

About the Game + What’s New

The Touryst is an action-adventure game that boasts an 84 on Metacritic and high user reviews across the Internet. For example, on Steam, it has a 90% approval rating. Suffice to say, the game with a voxel visual style inspired by games from both the NES and SNES eras is a bit of a fan-favorite, though it was never too popular. That said, it’s popular enough to be getting a re-release with new content six years after its launch. This new content will include a brand new island and monument to explore, which come with new quests and items. Meanwhile, the visuals have also been improved with the Nintendo Switch 2’s increase in power. The Touryst is notable as one of the few 8K games in existence, but this output won’t be possible on the Switch 2.

Right now, it is unclear how much The Touryst Deluxe will cost when it releases on Nintendo Switch 2, but it will presumably be more than the standard version costs now, which is $19.99. To this end, a $24.99 or $29.99 price point is most likely. It’s hard to imagine it more than this, and while $19.99 is on the board, it certainly won’t be less than this price point.

All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum. Will you be picking this re-release up when it hits Nintendo Switch 2 later this month, or are you saving your money for one of the few big exclusives coming before the end of the year?
